A drunkard with a running problem

Life has become a broken record.

You meet the same friends. Laugh at the same things. You eat the same foods. When someone offers that you step out kidogo you say, ”it’s a pandemic!” So you stay in the same space. You drink the same beer. You colour within the lines, your tongue half out like you’re getting a stroke.

Days spill into weeks. Months roll in and out, seasons change and you’re still the same person doing the same things. You grow older…

Could you be getting dangerously close to being bored?

Then one day you walk into a different bar with a different barman. You perch at the counter where all strangers gather. Because life has become a monotony of sorts, because you’re young until you’re not. You love until you don’t. You try until you can’t. You laugh until you cry and you cry until you laugh. But most importantly, because “your cup shall never run dry.” you let him pour you a drink and let the tides of drunkenness drown you.

At twenty-four, (almost) having experienced everything I could experience- and that is no small achievement- I am almost certain that after a particular age, you have to do irrelevant things to pass time. To show others that your body is still in working order and can still carry out humble tasks like running.

I am not sure who came up with the idea per se, but I was game. I remember almost nothing of that Karura forest run. Other than the adrenaline rush and monkeys. What I do know for sure is that sometimes a break from your day-to-day routine is the very thing you need.
