THE WIVES by Tarryn Fisher

I’m reading the wives by Tarryn Fisher. The latest book of the month in ‘thelittubookclub’ – a bookie club I recently joined. Usually, I write my reviews when I’m done reading. But in the spirit of trying new things, this piece was written while reading.

She’s married to this man who she describes as sexy. But there is another woman between them. More than one for that matter. He calls her Thursday, I’m not yet sure why. Probably because that’s the only day in the week he spends time with her but I’ll find out in time.

In her own words, “I don’t understand what it is he sees in me.” Each of these ladies is different & describes their ‘husband’ differently. I believe someone is lying but I’m not sure who -the wives or the husband in question.

I thought a cheating man is disastrous, but what do you call a man that doesn’t hide the fact he gets it with someone else other than you. Worse still, what do you do with this truth?

A roller coaster pales in comparison to the psychological turmoil this book puts you through.

I’m currently done reading, sigh. These are the books you read and curse a loud. It can’t get any worse. A lie you didn’t have to tell yourself, so you continue reading. Then it gets worse. Keeps getting worse as you turn pages until they’re no more pages left to turn.

My favorite part of the story?

Thursday’s last words. (I haven’t stopped calling her that, I kind of got used to it) “I am helping. I’m helping myself!” These would have been normal words except they weren’t, especially when they meant choking the life out of a mf.

I remember how a smile creeped up my face despite being stuck in traffic & already late for work. Definitely worth it.
