The 11:05 Murders by Brian O’Hare

I have to say I admire people who put themselves out there more so those who have the courage to put pen to paper especially those writing works of fiction. Having just finished reading the 11:05 Murders, I feel compelled to write a review.

After the prologue and the first few pages in, you’re bound to think you know it all. Believe me you don’t. The writer exudes an authority over mystery and thrill in this third person narrative. This book will turn you into a detective of sorts, with several theories that you think need to be explored. The writer has a way of hiding clues in plain sight. Remember that as you try to figure out who’s done it. I bet you won’t even see it coming.

The main female character, Denise Stewart is new to the whole detective business and the 1st murder in the book is her first murder crime scene. Through Stewart the writer is able to explore an aura of disgust at crime scenes relative to the bloodiness of the crime. Don’t get me wrong, serge as Tom Allen calls her is not your everyday type of lady. She experiences a strange sense of pride; life has taught her that only the strong survive. This is particularly seen in the manner which she interacts with the male characters in the book.

About half way through the book, I looked up the author to see if by any means he had worked in the either or both of the medical department and the crimes investigation unit. I really did. His expertise in the area really appalled me. I mean who knew that tilting the head backwards makes it more difficult to slit ones throat? I didn’t. The detectives have two main suspects who lack a relevant alibi and then we have serge here with this theory of sorts. Believe what you must but in the end the writer will prove you wrong.

The inspector Sheehan mystery book 2 is a must read for every “who done it” lover. Three murders orchestrated on different days and different geographical locations. These would be typical murders except they only happen on a Tuesday at exactly five minutes past eleven (11.05pm) why? Are these murders even related? If yes, what is the missing link? so many clues so many possibilities and the hardest question of all who done it

I would rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. This is mostly because as the story developed I formed an attachment to some of the characters. Very few writers manage to make their characters relatable and Brain O’Hare made it seem so effortless. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is quick to jump to conclusions, because by the time you’ll be halfway you will have more conclusions than the average brain can actually handle. However, if you pride yourself as a patience guru…
