SPOT CHECK

It’s July! Yeah, I know it’s not the first of July, and I might have come to that realization about seven days too late, but hey, don’t judge me. Also, we’re halfway done with the year! whoosh!! I don’t know if it is just me or one day we were wishing each other a happy new year under the smouldering January heat, and the next day we are in July, wearing almost half our closet to keep warm.

Anyway, after I recovered from the realization that it is indeed almost Christmas, and time for those buggy holiday-weight trousers stashed at the back of my closet, I got to thinking about all the goals I had set for my 2019. Allow me to give a little back story.

Setting the stage

Before this year, I had never set aside any “new year goals”. I was just always like, “yeah cool, I’m just gonna try and survive this one too”, every single year. But this year something changed. I felt like going about my life the way I always had brought no growth to my life as I was essentially just floating through without a purpose. So, with this light bulb moment and a little gentle (read hard, like HARD) push from my best friend (s/o Angie you the real MVP), I set some goals.

What those goals were/are is a whole other story for another day my dear friend. Today is about the spot check I decided to run on myself on how far I have come to achieving them in the past 6 months. I might not have achieved anything monumental, but so much has happened in that seemingly short amount of time. I have been shoved very roughly from my comfort zone, said goodbye to partnerships, and generally had a 180 turn in my life.

Nowhere but up

Even though I have not yet started that business, or picked up a new hobby, I have a completely new mindset. I very much believe in the power of the universe and of a higher being. So even though I feel like I have been tossed about and turned around, I believe that all that has had to happen to set me in the direction of my dreams, goals and prayers. I have learnt that adversity only comes in to get you ready for the level of success you have asked for, and that big dreams require big tests that one should always be willing to face.

So there it is. My half-year goals spot check. Did you set some goals and dreams for yourself this year? If so, have you done a spot check? If not, it’s never too late to come up with a few.

As I sign off for today remember, you are free. Never feel bad for the decisions you make that lead you to discovering more of that freedom.
